Afterward, step next door to Lemon & Olive for a Mediterranean lunch before continuing down 1st Street to Artisanal Wine Cellars, where the lineup ranges from juicy Malbec to delicate Gamay Noir.
Just a short walk further, you’ll discover Cliff Creek Cellars, tucked inside a beautifully refurbished bank, complete with a working safe that now guards their warm-weather vintages sourced from Southern Oregon. Their Cabernet Franc and Syrah are delicious, along with plenty of others worth lingering over.
Estate Grown Tempranillo and Syrah
At Compris Vineyard, 12.5 acres of vines stretch across a site where you’ll find the Burgundian varietals Newberg is known for. But this warmer pocket of land also ripens Tempranillo and Syrah thanks to the microclimate that gives these grapes exactly what they need. The result is estate wines with depth and character you might not expect from this region.
A few miles west, the expansive Stoller Family Estate showcases just how diverse the region’s vineyards can be. Ten different varietals grow here, including Syrah and Tempranillo. The south-facing slopes, tucked against the neighboring mountain range, captures extra warmth and sunshine, allowing these bold reds to thrive. You can taste them downtown at the Stoller Wine Bar, where a mobile kitchen serves bistro favorites, and live music fills the space every Friday and Saturday night.

Founded in 1971, Adelsheim Vineyard was the first winery established in the Chehalem Mountains and has long set the standard for the region. Their focus has always been on wines that capture a true sense of place, a commitment that shines through in their estate-grown Calkins Lane Vineyard Syrah.
Head for the Hills

Nearby, Natalie’s Estate Winery showcases the Burgundian classics the Willamette Valley is famous for, alongside bold reds like Malbec and Sangiovese. At The Potter’s Vineyard, you’ll be greeted by the winemakers who are just as eager to chat with you as they are to show you their award-winning wines including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.
