Every summer, fields in Newberg burst into brilliant purple bloom, and artisans throughout Newberg embrace the season with handmade treats and gifts scented with lavender. The season peaks in July, when the annual Willamette Valley Lavender Festival & Plein Air Art Festival is held at the Chehalem Cultural Center. Follow the Newberg Lavender Trail to find farms open for U-pick flowers and businesses throughout town where you can experience beautiful and delicious aspects of lavender from July 1-31.

#1 – 19th Annual 
Willamette Valley Lavender Festival and Plein Art Show

This regional celebration of lavender, art, food, and exceptionally made crafts is a unique and festive event that brings local lavender growers and the community together. The public is invited to attend at no charge. Festival hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, July 13-14.

#2 – Wayward Winds Lavender Farm 

U-pick lavender daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. June 29 – August 11 — Admission is free. Experience the lavender U-pick and explore the gift shop for kitchen and personal care products, culinary treats, and plants. Don’t forget to explore the lavender maze or enjoy the aromatic scenery at the beloved lavender farm.

Special Events:

  • Wreath Making Classes July 9, 16, 23, and 30, 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., $65
    Make a beautiful lavender wreath to take away with you.
  • Community Night & Butterfly Release July 20 and August 2nd, 6pm, free admission
  • Painting Lavender Class with local artist Leslie Blanding July 25, 10:30 a.m., $65
  • Couples Night July 26, 6 p.m., $125 per couple
    Limited, must reserve, includes a bottle of wine, two complimentary wine glasses, a treat, a butterfly to release, and a lavender bouquet, all with a picnic basket and blanket. Everything needed for a romantic evening in the lavender field. Bring your own picnic dinner if you choose.

#3 – Chehalem Flats Farm Market

Pre-cut and U-cut lavender, potted plant varieties, locally sourced body care, culinary, and home items. Open Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

#4 – Durant at Red Ridge Farms

U-pick Lavender and Wreath-Making Classes. Durant Lavender Festival Weekend: Lavender lemonade, cookies, and food prepared by our chef will be for sale. Also, check out the lavender lotion, soap, body oils, and herb bundles.

#5 – Art Elements Gallery 

Throughout July, paintings on display of local lavender scenes created by local artists. We will be featuring these artists and their lavender-themed artworks in our gallery.

#6 – Little Lavender Shop 

Fresh and dried lavender bouquets, soaps, culinary lavender, wreaths, and more.

#7 – Bellingar Estates 

Visit Bellingar Estates to enjoy the lavender at the ends of each row of vines and around the tasting room while enjoying beautiful, award-winning wines.

#8 – Brixeur Spirits at Trisaetum Winery

Enjoy lavender gin distilled on-site and served in a specialty lavender cocktail. Tastings by reservation only.

#9 – Coffee Cat Coffeehouse 

Lavender specialty beverages and pastries like iced tea, and the “Bees Knees”.

#10 – Cream Northwest 

Artisanal lavender ice cream and sorbet.

#11 – Good Company Cheese Bar and Bistro 

Lavender Paloma cocktail, lavender-infused cider, seltzer, chevre, jams, olive oil, and candies.
