Every summer, fields in Newberg burst into brilliant purple bloom, and artisans throughout Newberg embrace the season with handmade treats and gifts scented with lavender. The season peaks in July, when the annual Willamette Valley Lavender Festival & Plein Air Art Festival is held at the Chehalem Cultural Center. Follow the Newberg Lavender Trail to find farms open for u-pick flowers, and businesses throughout town where you can experience beautiful and delicious aspects of lavender from July 1-31st.

#1 – 17th Annual Willamette Valley Lavender Festival and Plein Art Show (415 E Sheridan Street)
This regional celebration of lavender, art, food, and exceptionally-made crafts is a unique and festive event which brings local lavender growers and the community together. The public is invited to attend at no charge. Festival hours are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 9th and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 10th.
#2 – Wayward Winds Lavender Farm (17005 NE Courtney Road)
Lavender u-pick July 1 – August 14th, daily from 10-5. Free admission. Lavender u-pick and gift shop with home and Refreshing lavender treats, kitchen products, personal care products, culinary treats, plants.
“Lavender + Vintage weekend” July 8-10 with vintage, upcycled & DIY products.
#3 – Chehalem Flats Farm Market (17733 NE North Valley Road)
Cut and u-cut lavender, potted plant varieties, locally-sourced body care, culinary and home items. Open Friday/Saturday, 10-5.
#4 – Abigail’s Gift Boutique (11 N Blaine Street)
Everything inside this downtown Newberg gift store is made in-house, from housewares to art, jewelry and more. Abigail’s features a line of lavender scented soap, lotion, candles, and other body care products.
#5 – Art Elements Gallery (604 E 1st Street)
Throughout July, paintings on display of local lavender scenes created by local artists.
#6 – Art With Elegance – Studio 306 (306 E Sherman Street)
Studio/gallery including lavender-themed art and jewlery; guided art experience: paint your own lavender art on a china plate, weekends in June/July, reservations required.

This charming new shop celebrated its grand opening recently, just in time for lavender season. It’s the retail outpost for a locally made line of luxurious aromatherapy candles and bath products designed to bring about a sense of balance and relaxation with botanical ingredients – many of which contain lavender.
